Ecotourism is tourism that places special emphasis on nature and the environment. In our times of climate crisis, it is important for us at Kirkvollen that we do not consume more than is necessary. Therefore, we recycle, reuse and reduce as much of our consumption as possible. We have a conscious relationship with the environment and became a certified Ecotourism company in 2019.
This means that we through the approval get a review of the entire company to reduce our carbon footprint, we have a conscious relationship with our emissions, use 100% renewable energy, local and locally produced food and mostly organic food and drink. We shop locally and think globally.
We have bought climate quotas to cover our flights for the company, we have LED light bulbs in all lamps, we prefer reuse of furniture, textiles etc rather than new things. We always have potential for improvement, but should not be fanatical.
Our ecotourism policy is that we:
• always have a precautionary attitude.
• are sustainable
• use local services and raw materials
• focus on collaboration
• take a general corporate social responsibility
• take care of protected buildings
• teache about local culture, communities and the environment
• create memorable experiences and meeting places
